Sell My Jaguar F-Pace

If your F-Pace won't start, has dropped into limp mode, is sitting down on one corner or has come back from the garage with a four-figure quote, the condition of the car is the subject here. It isn't something we go looking for at an inspection after the offer has been made. We buy every F-Pace whatever state it's in. It doesn't need to start, it doesn't need an MOT, and you don't need to get it anywhere. Put in the registration, the mileage and your postcode, say in plain words what the car's doing, and you'll have a no-obligation offer on it exactly as it stands.

Jaguar F-Pace

What we usually find wrong with an F-Pace

The F-Pace has been on the road since 2016, and the faults that finish one are rarely small. It's a heavy premium SUV, so the parts are priced like premium parts and the labour hours are long. That's how a single failure produces a quote nobody wants to spend on a car of that age. The Ingenium timing chain is the one we hear about most. On the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines the chain and tensioner wear, and owners describe a rattle on a cold start that quietens once the oil's up. The chain sits at the back of the engine, so reaching it is not a morning's work, and the quote that follows is usually the moment the owner starts looking at what the car's worth instead. We've written up F-Pace timing chain repair cost vs selling as it stands for that decision specifically.

Gearboxes are the other big one. The ZF six- and eight-speed automatics drop into limp mode or start shifting harshly, and on a four-wheel-drive car the transfer box can join in with noise and drive that comes and goes. Where air suspension is fitted, a leaking air strut or a failed compressor leaves the car sat down on one corner overnight, and once it's down it isn't going anywhere on its own wheels. Then there's everything else we're called about: electrical gremlins and ECU faults, body control module problems, infotainment black screens, turbo failure, head gasket trouble and coolant vanishing with no puddle under the car, MOT failures and high mileage. Plenty of the F-Paces we buy aren't broken in that sense at all. Accident and crash damage, Cat S, Cat N and salvage, insurance write-offs, and cars that have simply not moved in years while the owner put off the decision. See our common Jaguar faults guide for the wider picture.

What a broken F-Pace is actually worth

£1,200 to £10,000

That's a wide span, and it's wide for good reason. Where a particular F-Pace lands inside it comes down to the engine and model year, the mileage, the specification and trim, whether there's service history, whether both keys are with the car, and above all which fault it has.

  • Engine and model year
  • Mileage
  • Specification and trim
  • Service history
  • Spare keys
  • Which fault it has

Anyone quoting you a single number for a broken F-Pace before they know which of those you've got is guessing. What we won't do is price it by weight. A general buyer faced with a non-running F-Pace falls back on breaker value or scrap, paid by the tonne, because that's the only figure they're confident in. We price the whole car, and the fault is one line in that valuation rather than the whole of it.

Collection when the car can't be driven

Collection is free anywhere in mainland UK and costs you nothing, wherever the car happens to be sitting. If it won't drive, it goes on a trailer. That's our own recovery rather than a transport network we've booked on your behalf, so nobody arrives expecting to start a car that hasn't run since last year. We cover cities, towns and rural areas across England, Scotland and Wales. Once you've accepted an offer, collection is usually within 24 to 48 hours, and often sooner than that. Payment is same day, by secure bank transfer, cleared before the driver leaves with the car. That matters more than usual when you're parting with something most buyers wouldn't take at all.

No V5C, no MOT, hasn't moved in years

You don't need the logbook. You don't need a valid MOT, and the car doesn't need to be taxed or driveable. An F-Pace that's been SORN for two years, or standing in a garage with a flat battery and four square tyres, is still a car we'll buy. We complete and submit the V5C section as part of the purchase. The one thing that stays with you as the registered keeper is confirming the sale to DVLA yourself at gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle, which takes about five minutes and confirms on screen. Our paperwork guide goes through the missing logbook case in more detail if you want it.

Is it worth selling rather than fixing?

If the fault is small and the rest of the car is sound, fix it. We'd rather say that than talk someone out of a car they like. The trouble with the F-Pace is the arithmetic on the big failures. Repair bills on it are priced like a premium SUV because that's what it is, while the car's value carries on falling like any other used SUV of its age. Those two lines cross somewhere, and a timing chain, a gearbox or a set of air struts is usually where an owner finds they've crossed it. A second major fault arriving before the first one's paid off tends to settle the question entirely. None of that makes the car worthless, which is the assumption most people arrive with.

Why a Jaguar specialist rather than a general buyer

Branch counts and years of trading don't help anyone with a dead timing chain. What helps is somebody who knows what an Ingenium chain rattle actually means for the engine underneath it, what a ZF gearbox in limp mode tends to need, and whether a collapsed air strut is the end of a car or an afternoon's work. That's what we bring to a valuation, backed by 20 years in the motor trade. We only buy Jaguars, so we're not treating an F-Pace as an unknown quantity with a fault attached. Sellers regularly tell us the general we-buy-any-car quotes they'd already collected came back lower, and that's usually because a generic valuation has no way of separating a broken F-Pace from any other broken car.

Three steps and it's done: registration, mileage and postcode, plus a few words on what the car's doing. It takes under a minute, it's free, and the offer comes with no obligation, no fees and no hidden charges. You don't need to know what's wrong with it. If all you can tell us is that it rattles from cold, or that it's dropped onto one corner and won't lift, that's enough for us to price it.

Yes. Non-runners and non-starters are a large part of what we buy. It doesn't need to turn over, move under its own power or have any MOT left, and we'll collect it on a trailer.
